Now that it is almost Thanksgiving maybe I should update this little blog of mine. Not that this is much of a blog! Sheesh....

My good friend from high school, Miss Lindsey Both, became Mrs. Lindsey Hawkes! Bridger and I woke up bright and early one morning to drive to Logan, Utah where she was married. I was so happy to be able to make the ceremony- I had never been inside the Logan Temple and it was really beautiful! Lindsey is one of those friends that is just so much FUN to be around. No matter what I just can't help but laugh when I'm with her! When she first moved to Boise into my ward, she began hanging out with my group of friends and was the most timid, shy girl.... but as time went on she slowly showed glimpses of her true, hilarious self. She really is one of the funniest, most down to earth girls I know. Since high school our visits have been far and few in between, but I always love catching up with her. Congratulations Lindsey! You were such a beautiful bride!
My co-worker Gennifer and I threw a baby shower for our other co-worker Aubree this summer. Along with Cooper's help, I spent a couple hours in my parent's beautiful backyard painting flower pots for the party. One of those lazy afternoons that everyone needs once in awhile.

When we originally moved into this house 15 years ago, each of us kids were able to pick a tree to plant in the yard. I really wanted a climbing tree- so that's what I picked! Little did I realize that it takes years and YEARS to get to the point where you can actually climb it without killing it. Now it's a true climbing tree.... we are never too young to test it out!
Before it got warm enough to take the boat up to McCall, we took it out to Lake Lowell where the water is so warm! You don't want to go there after the beginning of July- who knows what is growing in there by then.
We spent quite a few weekends up at my parent's cabin in McCall. Probably our favorite place on earth to be! Sadly, now that we are grown up and have real jobs, we weren't able to spend as much time up there as we would have liked to. All our trips were short weekend trips up there, but we took what we were given! We celebrated the 4th of July up there and took the boat into the marina to watch the fireworks. They were really pretty to watch over the water! This year went much smoother than a few years back when our boat battery died and we were stranded in that dark water with other boats zooming past us. That's a story for another day!
Our friend's Andrew and Amy stopped in Boise on their way to Rexburg and we were able to spend a few hours with them. We met at Cambridge Court a few years back and now they have two little girls! I really can't even believe it. They live in Missouri now so it was good to catch up with them. We had to learn to contain our laughter now that there were two sleeping munchkins in the house!

While Daniel and Sarah were here we decided to throw her a baby shower since we wouldn't see her before the baby was born! My mom knows how to throw a party- anyone who knows her would agree. It was decorated so classy and pretty! Sarah received so many adorable things for a baby girl.... that ended up being a baby boy! Too funny :)

One of the craziest parts of the summer was my little eye incident. On one of our weekends up in McCall, I was playing badminton in the yard with Bridger. We were just hitting it back and forth, nice and easy, when something came over Bridger and he decided to wind up and hit it back as hard as he could. As luck would have it, it ended up hitting me dead center in the eye. OH MY- it hurt so bad! As bad as it hurt, I really didn't think much of it. It was more of a "okay, game over, I don't want to play anymore" as I covered my eye and hobbled off the grass.
Bridger felt so bad! He came to console me, and when I uncovered my eye to let Bridger see it his face turned all serious and I knew something was wrong. It had started filling up with blood, and not just a little blood. He rushed me inside as my parents gave me their best "parently advice". My dad insisted that I lay down on the couch and my mom gave me a bag of frozen corn to ice it. Fortunately Bridger used to work for a couple eye doctors so he called the one that he worked for in Boise before we were married.
He said "Well is it in the iris (the colored part) or white part?"
Um... colored part.
"Uh oh- is it circular on bottom and flat on top?"
Um.... yes.
"Uh oh- that's not good."
That's exactly what we wanted to hear! Basically he told us that I couldn't lay down and not to ice it- perfect! Just what I had been doing for 10 minutes! He told us we needed to drive back down to Boise to see him immediately, so there we were- less than 24 hours after getting to McCall- on our way back down the canyon to go see him. I had to wear sunglasses to keep my eye from dilating and constricting.
We had to go to the eye doctor Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I had what is called a hyphema and was put on several eye drops- one to decrease the inflammation and one to keep my eye dilated so the clot could heal and not detach. Bridger was the best caretaker- waking me up in the middle of the night to take my drops. On Monday the pressure in my eye really spiked up and he was concerned about me developing glaucoma, so I was placed on another drop to help bring it down. I had to sleep with an eye patch on and couldn't sleep laying down. Sleeping while sitting up is a lot harder than I thought it would be! Bridger was constantly waking me up telling me I was leaning too far to one side or starting to slide down. The worst part? Bed rest! Who knew you could be placed on bed rest for an eye injury! Apparently if I bumped the blood clot and it detached, the body isn't as good as dealing with the second bleed so I basically had to sit still. What started with bed rest for 2 days turned into bed rest for 5 days- BORING!
Bridger really did feel so bad! Fortunately that week my dental office was only open for 2 days so I didn't have to miss too much work. I don't think anybody would want me putting sharp instruments in their mouth when one eye was dilated and the other was not- it was really trippy! Below is a picture to show the difference in my eyes since we had to keep it dilated. This was 6 days after the injury mind you! Months and months later, there is still a difference between my two eyes- it is still slightly more dilated but my vision is fine and I don't have my next check up for a year! I am so grateful that it ended up healing well. I was joking that with my job, I had always worried about falling on the wakeboard and hurting my wrist or something like that. I never thought about my vision! Severe vision loss is possible with hyphemas but Bridger made sure I followed doctor's orders perfectly! Working in an eye doctor's office, he saw that it didn't turn out as well when people didn't listen... imagine that!
My first day off of bedrest was our 4th wedding anniversary- how perfect was that? We headed to Salt Lake City to get out of town for the weekend. We stayed at the Little America for one night and went shopping at the City Creek Mall- it's such a pretty outdoor mall! The rest of the weekend was spent with our favorites- the Martineau's! We went golfing (rather the boys golfed, the girls drove our own cart!), went to a movie, floated down the river, and just enjoyed hanging out again! Going from hanging out 5 times a week to not at all was quite the shock. They took us to Waffle Luv, a little waffle truck that goes all around Provo. It was so yummy!
Overall it was a fun summer! We both worked full time so we stayed really busy but also managed to squeeze in some fun along the way!
