Memorial Day Weekend

We had such a great Memorial Day weekend.  Friday night we were just planning on staying home but my good friend Ashlie invited us to go to a comedy show on campus.  Seeing how I was complaining of not having any friends here this summer (Ashlie moves this week- very sad about this!), I was very excited to go with them!  The comedy show was funny at times, cheesy many other times, but all around a good time!  You can't complain when it's only $1 a ticket.

Saturday we got up early and headed to Pocatello for the rest of the weekend to watch Dallan's state soccer tournament.  We were going back and forth about whether to go or not, and had a free night stay at an Ameritel so we figured it was the perfect time to go.  Bridger needed to get away from work and school- and I really wanted to spend time with my family!  When we got there I realized how much I've missed watching my brothers play soccer.

Dallan's team tied the first game 2-2, won the second game 7-0,  won in the semi-finals in a SHOOT OUT! (oh man just hearing that makes my heart beat a little faster- the whole shoot out I was pretty much shaking), and they were off to the championship for the 5th time!  We were very nervous for the big game, because it has always been this huge rivalry between Capitals (Dallan's team) and the Nationals (who they would play against AGAIN in the championship).  Even while Daniel played growing up  it was always Capitals and Nationals. All nerves were put to rest right after half time- when they had the lead 3-0.  We had the game in the bag.  It ended a 5-2 game and Dallan won his 5th STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!  What a team. Congrats! I was really lame this weekend with the picture taking- but mostly because our camera battery died.  So here is the one picture I did get. Oh well!  Sadly we missed Dallan's goal- we were only about 4 or 5 minutes late to the game and Bridger was joking around saying "Watch, we're gonna miss Dallan score."  To that I said, "Ya right, sometimes nobody scores the entire game in soccer, let alone the first couple minutes!"  With that said, we were just getting our blanket and camera out of the trunk when my dad called and said "Where are you- your brother just scored!"  Bridger was right.

We filled our time between those games with going out to eat, playing Catch Phrase, going bowling, and going swimming at the hotel.  Pocatello isn't a dream vacay spot to say the least but with good company and good soccer it was a lot of fun!  And a much needed get-away. Now back to the real world.

Some random facts about Bridger and Jordan...

  1. We met in Craig Moss's basement the end of the summer of 2003. Such a long time ago! Jordan was 15 and Bridger was 17. Here are some random pictures from dating while we were youngsters:

  2. Bridger was baptized July 10, 2004.  Jordan can still remember exactly where they were when he asked her if he could go to church with her.  Driving up the hill on Eagle Road, almost to Chinden- he was taking me home from school in his red jeep. This picture was taken just after his baptism. We look so little!!
  3. Bridger was Jordan's first kiss.  Not the other way around though :)
  4. When Jordan was in 7th grade, she finished a volley ball game and some of her friends said they were going to watch the 8th grade basketball game.  Jordan asked of some of the guys that were on the team. Among those names they said "Bridger Booras".  Jordan's reaction was, "Booras- what a weird last name. Poor guy."  Who would've guessed that about 8 years later she would take that name herself!
  5. Bridger frequently volunteers to give Jordan foot rubs.  It is heavenly.
  6. Our dream trip is to go to Greece, where Bridger's family is from.  Bridger is 1/4 Greek.
  7. Jordan attends BYU and is studying Exercise Science: Fitness and Wellness.  She is contemplating doing Dental Hygiene after.  Bridger is at UVU studying Business, with plans of getting a Masters of Healthcare Administration.  He eventually wants to be a hospital administrator.
  8. When we have extra money and school is all done with forever, we are going to buy another jeep- because we miss the ole' red jeep so much!
  9. Jordan absolutely LOVES thunderstorms- Utah and Idaho don't get nearly enough of them.
  10. We were married August 23, 2008 in the Boise Temple after being engaged for about 9 months.  Talk about a long engagement.
  11. Bridger served in the Canada Toronto East Mission from August 2005-August 2007.  Longest two years of Jordan's life. Bridger wrote Jordan EVERY week, and Jordan.... wrote MOST of those weeks! :)
  12. Jordan swears Bridger has ADD, but he gets mad when she says that
  13. Bridger only has sisters and Jordan has all brothers.
  14. We want to go skydiving, but Jordan doesn't know if she has the guts.
  15. We went to Puerto Vallarta for our honeymoon- it was pure bliss.  It was the first time Bridger had been to the ocean- and Jordan loved watching him soak it all in.
  16. We never broke up while dating.  Jordan did date a little while Bridger was gone for two years, but that doesn't really count.
  17. We love playing games- phase 10, triominos, scattegories, anything pretty much.  But they bring out the competitiveness in both of us!
  18. Jordan is a night owl, Bridger is not.  When we go to bed Jordan would prefer to talk for a long time, while Bridger insists that "We go to bed to sleep, not to talk".  Jordan insists that he learns to stay awake to talk, especially since she has adjusted to sleeping with a fan on every night!
  19. Bridger likes to change the words to songs on purpose and it drives Jordan absolutely CRAZY. He thinks it's funny.
  20. We love to go rollerblading, no matter how un-manly it is for boys.  However, Jordan refuses to rollerblade anywhere with hills.  When we went to Las Vegas to visit Lynn, Bridger's mom, we went rollerblading.  Let's just say there were lots of hills, and Jordan about died.  She'd take uphill any day over down hill.
  21. Our favorite treat to get together is either ice cream cones from McDonalds, or Key Lime Pie. Yum!
  22. We spent Christmas together right after being engaged.  Bridger came up to Jordan's cabin and was planning on staying until Christmas Eve, and then returning to Boise to spend Christmas with his family.  But the roads weren't looking too good so Jordan's mom insisted he stayed.  Bummer  ;)
  23. We both believe we scored big time with eachother's families.  They are both so great, and so welcoming.
  24. Jordan loves going out to eat- the atmosphere, good food, good company, good conversations- but they rarely go because Jordan always ends up getting sick, even if she hardly eats anything.
  25. Bridger will watch pretty much any movie.  He thinks they're all "the best movie ever".  I guess being easily pleased is a good thing?
  26. Jordan has surprised herself with her cooking skills since getting married
  27. If we could go back and re-live our wedding day, we totally would.  It went by way too fast, and after all that planning we didn't want it to end.
  28. Jordan loves when the sun shines into Bridger's eyes- They're already beautiful eyes, but when the sun hits them just right- WOW!  Stunning!
  29. Our new favorite cookies are oatmeal chocolate chip.
  30. No matter what Bridger says- HE definitely kissed Jordan first, when she was 15- and lost her money that she would've gotten for waiting til she was 16. Oops! Totally worth it.
  31. After being apart for Bridger's mission, we still did long distance for 8 more months while Jordan was at BYU and Bridger was at Boise State.  Jordan spent plenty on gas during that time!
  32. Jordan would love to know everything about photography.  Bridger was so sweet and talked to Jordan's parents about her interest in photography and they gave her an awesome camera for her 21st birthday.
  33. Bridger's favorite season is spring- it means school is ending (not this year for him!), it's getting warmer, summer is coming, flowers are blooming, everything is pretty.  Jordan's favorite season is fall- colors of the leaves changing, the air becomes a little crisper, so many great family memories of the fall, everything is just a little more cozy before it gets FREEZING and winter comes.
  34. Jordan thinks Bridger is the perfect "hug-height".  Not too tall, definitely not short. He gives the best hugs.
  35. We are best friends, and tell each other absolutely everything and are so goofy together.
  36. We love watching sports together- and Bridger is so happy his wife loves sports.
  37. Before Bridger left on his mission, he gave her a ring.  Not a promise ring, but more of a "do whatever you want, but know i still love you" ring.  Inside it he engraved "My Sunshine".  In Jordan's engagement ring he engraved "Making Memories of Us."
  38. We went to two proms together.  One day Jordan's dad surprised her and took her car shopping.  She drove home on cloud 9 with a new set of wheels, ran upstairs to her room and Bridger had asked her to her first prom.  It was a good day to say the least!
  39. Bridger loves when Jordan dances to any type of beat that comes on in the kitchen.
  40. The second night that Bridger and Jordan hung out, Jordan lost her toe-ring in Jeff Ranstrom's swimming pool.  The boys made a deal that whoever found it first would get a kiss (keep in mind Jordan had never kissed anyone).  After awhile, Bridger found the ring and Jordan was secretly very happy.  Until he dropped it back into the water on accident.  And then Jeff Ranstrom found it.  Jordan went to kiss Jeff's cheek, and he turned.  Sneaky boys.
  41. Bridger let Jordan paint their family room for her birthday- even though he didn't want to. And it looks GREAT!
  42. Bridger made Jordan wait THREE WHOLE DAYS before he kissed her when he returned from his mission.  It was torture.
  43. One of our favorite places to go is Jordan's cabin on Payette Lake- even if we don't get to go very often!
  44. While we were dating we would talk for HOURS on end on the telephone.
  45. One time, a long long time ago, Jordan had a really bad day.  Bridger was leaving soon on his mission, Jordan was mowing the lawn and EVERYTHING was going wrong, people were coming into town so she wasn't going to be able to hang out with Bridger, you get the drift.  Well, to top things off Jordan was blow drying her hair that day and it just so happened that part of her hair burnt off- and stuck straight up in the air.  Jordan called Bridger crying (this wasn't the first time she called him crying that day, probably the third!) and Bridger rudely said he had to get off the phone cuz he needed to shower.  Jordan was so angry- would he really just get off the phone to shower when she needed to talk?  Well a few minutes later Bridger showed up on Jordan's doorstep with flowers and a chocolate milkshake from Jack in the Box- our favorite in high school.  To make it even cuter- Bridger actually called Jordan's mom to get her permission to come over because he knew her parents weren't home.  What a man!
Anyway- those are just some random stuff about us!  Along with some fun pictures!

Dear Summer...

Please be kind to Bridger.  With three part time jobs and summer school, this boy could use a break, wouldn't you say?  The first week of summer was actually pretty relaxing and we started to think maybe he wouldn't be as busy as we originally thought. And I started to really love you for it.  But- alas- it is not so.  The next week you came stronger and busier than ever. The poor man leaves the house at about 6:30 for his College Algebra class, then runs from job to job trying to make everyone happy.  He is exhausted to say the least, because once he gets home from working he has to study study study.  You really should give him a break!  And please, let there be no more trips to the emergency room.  Maybe if Bridger wasn't so busy he wouldn't be in such a rush and wouldn't have given himself a nasty deep cut on his hand from a screw driver, resulting in 5 stitches.  Could've been worse, but it is no fun- no fun at all!  If you could give me my husband back I would really appreciate it. Except him working means more money- which means less student loans we have to take out.  And less stress, and more fun later. Oh boy!  The joys of both being in school.  I guess all I can say is Summer, I have a love-hate relationship with you.  Please play nice.

Sincerely-

Bridger's biggest fan
